About me

I am currently a Research Fellow under the supervision of Associate Professor Rebecca Case (Case Lab), where I investigate how seagrasses and their microbiomes respond to anthropogenic stressors. My broader research focus is on molecular and microbial ecology, uncovering the hidden diversity and ecological complexities of microbes in marine ecosystems.

I hold a PhD in Earth and Environmental Science from Nanyang Technological University, where my research explored the dynamics of protists in marine ecosystems, from characterising the under-ice Arctic phytoplankton bloom phenology to investigating tropical cell-to-cell parasitism. I also earned my Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Biology) from the National University of Singapore. My goal is to make invisible life visible, and in doing so, help inform better conservation and coastal management strategies.

Beyond research, I am deeply committed to science communication and education. I actively engages with the public through social media and news platforms to promote scientific literacy. I also deliver guest lectures on microbial and molecular ecology to students at the university, junior college, and secondary school levels. Before joining SCELSE, I was a Research Engineer and Communications Specialist at the Earth Observatory of Singapore, where I collaborated with scientists to translate geohazard research into impactful video productions.
